Following City of Los Angeles v. PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLC (2024) 17 Cal.5th 46, which it says allows an award of discovery sanctions under CCP 2023.010 and 2023.030 when confronted with an “unusual form of discovery abuse” not already addressed by the method-specific sanctions provisions of the Civil Discovery Act, this decision affirms a $10,000 sanctions award against a third party witness who refused to allow the video streaming of his remote deposition–even though the original motion to compel had been rendered moot by settlement of the underlying litigation.
