Summer Associates

Every year, Severson & Werson invites second-year law students to join us for the summer in our San Francisco and Irvine offices. As the summer associate program is our main avenue for hiring young attorneys after graduation, we recruit primarily from local law schools. However, we also welcome applications from any students who are interested in practicing law in the Bay Area or Orange County.

While their summer work may focus on a particular area of the firm’s practice, summer associates are encouraged to experience and contribute to as many areas of Severson’s practice as possible. To facilitate this process, summer associates are paired with associate mentors, who are frequently “graduates” from summer associate programs past, and who guide each summer associate through different practice areas.

Please note that we generally do not consider applications prior to January 1 of the year of the program. All applications should include a resume, writing sample, and recent transcript.
