Rhonda L. Nelson
Rhonda Nelson is a Member of the firm, specializing in labor
and employment, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights litigation.
As co-chair of the firm's Labor & Employment practice group,
she specializes in labor and employment litigation, advice,
and counseling, representing employers in a wide variety of
issues arising within the employer/employee relationship. Ms.
Nelson counsels employers on internal harassment and discrimination
investigations and presents on-site seminars for clients on
sexual harassment and related issues. Ms. Nelson also has experience
litigating employment issues (with extensive experience in civil
law and motion practice).
As a member of the firm's Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights
practice group, Ms. Nelson prosecutes lenders’ suits to
collect loans and enforce loan agreements including appointment
of receivers, attachments, claim and delivery actions, real
property foreclosures, and enforcements of guaranty contracts.
She also has extensive experience in obtaining relief from the
automatic stay, negotiating agreements and litigating the use
of cash collateral, obtaining adequate protection, obtaining
appointment of a Chapter 11 trustee, negotiating, documenting
and obtaining court approval of loans to Chapter 11 debtors
on a secured basis, negotiating and litigating confirmation
of reorganization plans, defending preference avoidance actions,
prosecuting complaints objecting to discharge and the dischargeability
of debts; motions for conversion, dismissal and consolidation
of bankruptcy cases.
Ms. Nelson
is very active a number of professional associations. She has
served as Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary of the Debtor/Creditor
and Bankruptcy Relations Committee of the State Bar of California
and is currently a member of the Labor and Employment Law Section.
Ms. Nelson is a member American Bar Association, Labor and Employment
Law Section and the Business Law Section. She is also a member
of the Bar Association of San Francisco, Labor and Employment
Law Section and the Judicial Evaluation Committee. She has been
a panelist at a number of seminars and programs organized by
such associations as the Continuing Education of the Bar and
the American Bar Association.
