Peter B. Molgaard

Peter Molgaard joined Severson & Werson in 2002, with a degree in architecture and over 15 years of experience as an attorney giving advice and counsel to design professionals and others in the construction industry. Mr. Molgaard is a Special Counsel in the firm's construction litigation and transactional practice group. He also focuses on contractual, risk management and litigation issues affecting the design and construction professional community

Mr. Molgaard's practice focuses on:

  • Transactional Counseling and Document Preparation: Mr Molgaard's practice includes the analysis, formation and negotiation of both design and construction contracts.
  • Professional Liability: Mr. Molgaard defends architects, engineers, and other professionals against professional negligence and other claims.
  • Business Formation: Mr. Molgaard's practice includes the formation, merger, acquisition and dissolution of business entities, including partnerships, corporations, limited liability partnerships and limited liability companies; the preparation of stock option, stock purchase and buy-sell agreements; and counseling of clients concerning general business issues such as fee collection.
  • Construction Litigation: Mr. Molgaard has represented design professionals, construction managers, and developers in construction defect and delay claims.
  • Risk Management and Loss Prevention Advice and Seminars: Mr. Molgaard regularly advises clients on loss prevention and pre-claim dispute resolution issues, and the use of mechanics' liens. He is also a frequent speaker and trainer on contract and risk management issues for construction professionals.

Mr. Molgaard is an a Martindale-Hubbell "AV"-rated attorney, and a member of a number of professional organizations, including the State Bar of California, American Bar Association (Member Forum on the Construction Industry), Bar Association of San Francisco, and the American Institute of Architects (former Chair San Francisco Chapter Continuing Education Committee).
