Michael J. Bertinetti
Michael Bertinetti is a member in the firm’s San Francisco
office, where his practice focuses on general civil litigation,
specializing in creditors' rights, the defense of consumer class
actions, and arbitration.
Mr. Bertinetti defends and prosecutes claims involving the interpretation
and enforcement of complex loan participation undertakings.
He also prosecutes a variety of claims on debt instruments with
substantial unpaid balances, and enforces notes and guarantees
against lender liability defenses such as alleged bank misrepresentations
about use of instruments, borrower creditworthiness, availability
of further loans, oral extensions and modifications of credit
agreements by conduct.
Mr. Bertinetti joined Severson & Werson in 1976, and has been a member since 1981. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Law Clerk to Justice John Kerrigan of the California Court of Appeals, and served on active duty in the United States Army (1974-75).
