Gale A. Townsley

Gale Townsley is Special Counsel to Severson & Werson’s Insurance Law group. She joined the firm in 1998 with over a decade of experience in the fields of insurance coverage and professional liability.

At Severson, Ms. Townsley serves as monitoring counsel in professional liability matters: negotiating pre-litigation settlements, handling claims, supervising outside coverage and litigation counsel, and counseling insureds on loss prevention. Ms. Townsley also advises insurers and insureds regarding coverage, and is monitoring and coverage counsel to domestic, London, Zurich, and Caribbean-based carriers. As such, she handles mediation, arbitration and settlement negotiations for these carriers. Ms. Townsley also has experience representing insurers in employment-related claims.

Ms. Townsley is active in a number of professional and community organizations, including the American Bar Association, Association of Professional Insurance Women (APIW), Bar Association of San Francisco (Fee Arbitration Panel), and the Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom. She is a member of the San Francisco Choral Society, and currently serves on their Board of Directors as President-Elect.
