Jason M. Julian

Jason Julian commercial and finance litigation

Mr. Julian is Special Counsel and an experienced commercial litigator with expertise in defending financial services litigation, real estate disputes, and bank operations matters.

Jason M. Julian is Special Counsel in Severson & Werson’s San Francisco office, where he practices in the Financial Services Group. A litigator, his practice encompasses all areas of civil litigation.

Prior to joining Severson & Werson, Mr. Julian practiced with Foley & Lardner LLP in San Francisco, and with Oppenheimer, Wolff & Donnelly LLP in Palo Alto. He has represented a broad range of clients in financial institution litigation, business and commercial litigation, and intellectual property litigation.

His experience includes managing nation-wide defense of mortgage and credit lawsuits for large financial institutions encompassing claims under TILA, FCRA, ECOA, the Peralta Mortgage Relief Act, TARP, and HBOR, and mediating consumer financial services transaction disputes to successful resolution. He has directed response to OCC regarding commercial transactions, analyzed evolving legislation relating to financial services, including Peralta Mortgage Relief Act, TARP and HBOR, and devised strategies in response, and negotiated a settlement of an insurance coverage dispute with contribution from the insurance carrier.

Mr. Julian received his J.D. in 2001 from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he was a member of Hastings International and Comparative Law Review. During law school, Mr. Julian served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Joseph C. Spero, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California. He also earned a master’s degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University and a B.A. in Political Economy from the University of California at Berkeley.

Before law school, Mr. Julian’s previous experience included serving in the U.S. Peace Corps in Belize, and working with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the United Nations Volunteers in Liberia, and the California State University’s Office of Federal Relations in Washington, D.C.
