Edward “Ted” Buell is an associate in Severson & Werson’s financial services group. He has experience in defending mortgage lenders and servicers in claims alleging fraud, predatory lending, wrongful foreclosure, unfair and deceptive practices, violations of TILA, RESPA, FDCPA, and RICO as well as with title claims and servicing issues. Mr. Buell also has experience with claims involving secondary market transactions and repurchase demands.
Mr. Buell joined Severson & Werson in 2010 after serving for five years as the Assistant General Counsel of GreenPoint Mortgage Funding, Inc. While at GreenPoint Mr. Buell managed a nationwide portfolio of over three hundred cases, ranging from single borrower matters to class actions. Along with managing cases, he also acted as counsel for GreenPoint and litigated cases in state and federal trial courts, as well as at the appellate level.
Mr. Buell received his B.A. in Criminology, Law, and Society from the University of California, Irvine. He received his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 2005, where he was a Deans Merit Scholar and a member of the Business Law Review.

Civil Litigation with an emphasis on consumer class actions and financial institution litigation at the trial and appellate levels.
Mr. Buell's specific experience includes:
Financial Institution Litigation: Representation of financial institutions, primarily mortgage lenders, auto finance companies, and loan servicers, in suits raising a variety of lender liability claims.
Business and Commercial Litigation: Prosecute and defend actions arising from complex business transactions, fiduciary relationships, partnerships, suretyships, employment termination, and business torts.
Class Actions: Representation of mortgage banking companies, auto finance companies, and financial institutions in class actions raising claims based on statutory violations, unfair business practices, breach of contract, and fraud.
