Cynthia L. Mitchell is Special Counsel to Severson & Werson PC in San Francisco. A graduate of the University of Virginia Law School, Ms. Mitchell practiced law at Nixon Peabody (form. Lillick & Charles) (associate), FoodSource (General Counsel) and Cozen O’Connor (partner) before joining Severson & Werson in 2003. She has over twenty years experience as Underwriters’ representative counsel providing coverage advice and defense to commercial and professional liability insurers with emphasis in legal, employment and architects and engineers liability claims. Other legal experience includes construction litigation, maritime defense and coverage, defense of product liability and other complex commercial claims.


 

  • Settlement of an insurance bad faith case for foreign insurers for one-tenth of amount claimed after taking over from prior attorneys and obtaining reversal of several prior adverse court rulings.
  • Recovery of $3.0 million indemnity payments plus $600,000 Brandt fees on behalf of London insurers of oil refinery as additional insured on subcontractor’s insurance.
